CBP is a talking therapy developed on empirical evidence, derived from psychological models of human emotion and behaviour. The key features of CBP is how people think, can affect how they feel and behave. This style of psychotherapy is flexible in its approach and is suitable for a wide range of people experiencing a broad spectrum of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, PTSD, stress, OCD, Health anxiety, Social anxiety, Panic, Agoraphobia, Hoarding and finally Eating disorders.
People Living with Sight Loss
Assisting people living with or newly diagnosed with a sight impairment overcome the many challenges (emotional distress) living with sight loss presents. Research highlights that people living with a sight impairment experience intense anxiety when trying to complete tasks (daily). Interestingly the research suggests that this heighten level of anxiety maybe so intense that to actually carry out the task is an impossible expectation. In addition, a persons appraisal of their own capabilities to carry out the task whilst experiencing high anxiety maybe viewed as unhelpful. Indeed living with sight loss can impact on a person’s comfidence and competence. Conversely, learning different ways to live a more resilient life helps people living with sight loss improve their own quality of life.
People Living with Autism
Assisting people living with autisum to develop helpful strategies to improve their own quality of life. Research highlights that people living with Autism experience intense levels of anxiety in different areas of their life such as school, university, work and other daily tasks. Interestingly the research emphasises by developing new actions (behaviours) helps people to complete activities with reduced levels of anxiety.
